artist statement

I began expressing myself through art at the age of seventeen, back in 1996. During a difficult period marked by depression, anxiety, and family struggles, art became a vital outlet — a way to make sense of pain and identity. With an ill parent at home and the weight of personal trauma, I turned inward, finding in art both a refuge and a language for my emotions. Studying at my local art college in the North was transformative. It was there that I began to explore the complexities of thought and memory through fine art — working primarily in 2D and occasionally 3D media. My earliest works revolved around the concept of time — revisiting, reliving, and confronting moments from the past with honesty and vulnerability. Over the past twenty-eight years, I have exhibited in numerous group shows, held solo exhibitions, and had my work published — experiences that continue to affirm my belief in art as both a personal necessity and a universal form of connection. Art is not simply what I do; it is how I exist in the world. It is my way of breathing, reflecting, and being.
